Data Management and Bioinformatics Core

The Data Management and Bioinformatics (DMBI) Core provides the computational infrastructure and tools necessary to analyze and integrate the diverse data generated by the Center’s multidisciplinary projects. The overall goal is to enhance computational resources to advance understanding of host-pathogen interactions in severe pneumonia and share these resources broadly with the research community.

DMBI Core focuses on three key areas:

  1. Data Quality and Insights: Implementing automated, real-time anomaly detection to ensure technical rigor, uncover biological novelties, and identify emerging pathologies.
  2. Data Integration and Accessibility: Extending infrastructure for cohort identification, hypothesis generation, and dataset creation, including enhancements to the open-source Leaf query tool for seamless integration of OMOP and study-specific datasets.
  3. Data Privacy and Security: Addressing challenges in combining clinical and multi-omics data by developing tools to balance data privacy with accessibility while promoting best practices.
